Continuing with our theme of involving our students in meaningful ways in their communities, we have been exploring food diversity, practicing our handy-person skills, and exploring community spaces such as the Old North End farmer’s market, Roosevelt Park, and the Riverside Community Garden!

We also welcomed a children’s book author Linda Di Sante, whose beautiful paintings of animal friendships now grace our walls, for a book reading of “Will You Be My Friend” and an art talk. We also purchased enough copies of “Will You Be My Friend” for each student to take one home to their families!
The infant class have welcomed two new students, and have all been hard at work increasing their gross motor skills and vocabulary by the minute. We are so proud of how fast they are learning!

The preschoolers have been hard at work helping Assistant Director Wiley with installing a new gate! Levi and Nico screwed in wall mounts and pulled together the framing of the gate while Excellente and Justeeno cheered them on. We also made home-made applesauce with our teacher Kathleen–it was a big hit!

Our toddler class has enjoyed some wonderful fall-produce themed meals. Friend of ONE Arts Sabah created a beautiful Iraqi rice and bean dish, and Wiley made his best attempt at Banana-Pumpkin pancakes! We also welcomed new friend of ONE Arts Mickey to bring music to our classes! if you have any family favorite tunes, please send them our way and Mickey will add them to our repertoire!

Have a safe and happy November, everyone!
